The University of British Columbia School of Music invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Piano, beginning July 1, 2021. We seek a versatile concert pianist with demonstrated potential for distinguished artistic achievement and teaching. In addition to a broad knowledge of the piano repertoire, applicants should demonstrate engagement with pedagogy and collaborative work. Familiarity with the piano repertoire beyond the traditional canon would be an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain performance projects leading to the securing of peer-reviewed external research funding (such as commissions, recordings, tours, and artist/research grants). They will contribute to the diverse activities of the Keyboard Division by engaging with, for example, improvisation, new technologies, cross-disciplinary interests, or community-based initiatives. Applicants should also demonstrate that they can effectively fulfill teaching and service duties, including graduate student supervision, while maintaining a demonstrated commitment to increased diversity, equity, and inclusion. A doctoral degree or equivalent professional experience is required.

The Keyboard Division is an integral part of a dynamic School of Music that offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs in music, including in Piano Performance, and is situated in a beautiful and culturally diverse metropolis.
