Grenfell Campus, Memorial University is located in Corner Brook, on Elmastukwek/Bay of Islands, in traditional Mi’kmaw territory, and we acknowledge with respect the diverse histories and cultures of the Beothuk, Mi’kmaq, Innu, and Inuit of this province.

The School of Fine Arts at Grenfell Campus invites applications for an 8-month Teaching Term position in Visual Arts, commencing September 1, 2020. Applicants should be able to teach a range of undergraduate Drawing and Painting courses. Ability to advise 4th year and MFA students is also an asset.

The studio curriculum of the Visual Arts Program in the School of Fine Arts at Grenfell Campus offers a breadth of experiences to students with courses in digital imaging, drawing, fiber/textiles, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and time-based media. Advanced courses provide students with the opportunity to select areas of focus or work in an interdisciplinary way towards a more self-directed and independent practice.

Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, has a population of more than 1,300 students with over 20% of the student body self-identifying as Indigenous. The Campus emphasizes innovative approaches to teaching and learning, research and engagement. Experiential learning, impactful research and strong community relationships are the hallmarks of Grenfell’s profile. Grenfell Campus is also home to Atlantic Canada's first low-residency MFA program.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Master’s degree in fine arts is required. Candidates are expected to have undergraduate teaching experience, an active research and studio practice, a national and/or international exhibition record. Evidence of academic and/or community service is an asset. The candidate will also be conversant with theoretical underpinnings and contemporary practices in Drawing and Painting.

Courses in the Fall 2020 semester will be delivered remotely but candidates must be able to teach in person at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University in the Winter 2021 semester (January to April) if courses are offered in person during that time.

All appointments are subject to budgetary approval. Salary will reflect qualifications and experience in accordance with the Collective Agreement governing faculty at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
