Assistant Professor of Voice and Opera

The University of British Columbia School of Music invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Voice and Opera Division, beginning September 1, 2020, or later if necessary. We seek a highly accomplished performer and educator, preferably a mezzo soprano or soprano, whose professional experience and approach to performance will help to diversify the activities of the Voice and Opera Division. Demonstrated engagement with issues of diversity or inclusion through performance, mentoring, teaching, or community-based initiatives will be an asset. A doctoral degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred. The Voice and Opera Division is an integral part of a dynamic School of Music that offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs in music, including M.Mus. and DMA programs in performance, and is situated in a beautiful and culturally diverse metropolis. The UBC Opera Ensemble performs three major productions each season, educating and promoting gifted singers, while preparing them for international careers.
