Limited Term Appointment in Print Media

Concordia University’s Department of Studio Arts in the Faculty of Fine Arts invites applications
for one Limited Term Appointment (LTA) position in Print Media at the rank of Lecturer or
Assistant Professor, effective August 1, 2019 to May 14, 2020.

Position Description
LTA positions are subject to budgetary approval and departmental or unit need. Individuals who
hold a Limited Term Appointment may seek reappointment given continued funding and need as
well as satisfactory job performance. Together, initial LTA appointments and subsequent
reappointments may not exceed a total of 36 months or span more than three consecutive years.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach three undergraduate courses per term in the
areas of intaglio and relief; participate in graduate-level studio visits, group critiques and possibly
supervise graduate students. Other responsibilities include administrative duties and fulfilling
program leadership needs.

Candidates for this position should possess an MFA degree or equivalent and have postsecondary teaching experience at the college or university level and demonstrated administrative
skills. We are seeking applicants with an established practice in print media and demonstrated
expertise in intaglio and relief print practices. Candidates should demonstrate a strong
understanding of traditional and expanded approaches to print media as well as a sound
knowledge of art history and theory in print media. The ideal candidate will have an advanced
working knowledge of a variety of print materials and processes including but not necessarily
limited to a full range of intaglio and relief methods. Experience with digital print imaging including
laser engraving, CNC router technology, Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Illustrator and large
format printing on Epson and Xante printers is an asset. Preference will be given to candidates
with the strongest research-creation and exhibition record who demonstrate the potential to meet
the teaching, administrative and leadership needs of the program. Although courses are taught in
English, fluency in French would be considered an asset
