Limited Term Appointment in Art History:
Non-Western, Post-colonial and/or Global Art Histories

Position Description
LTA positions are subject to budgetary approval and departmental or unit need. Individuals who hold
a Limited Term Appointment may seek reappointment given continued funding and need as well as
satisfactory job performance. Together, initial LTA appointments and subsequent appointments may
not exceed a total of 36 months or span more than three consecutive years.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to teach six undergraduate courses in art history over the
course of the 2019-2020 academic year: two sections of Postcolonial Theory in Art History (ARTH
379); two sections of Issues in Ethnocultural Art Histories (ARTH 389); Studies in Twentieth-Century
Art and Architecture (ARTH 367) and Issues in Art and Criticism (ARTH 387). Responsibilities may
also include limited involvement in departmental committee work.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a completed PhD in Art History or closely related discipline(s). We are seeking
candidates who can demonstrate teaching excellence at the university level. Areas of expertise should
align with Non-Western, Post-colonial and/or Global Art Histories, in order to fulfill the teaching duties
detailed above.
