Concordia University’s Department of Art Education in the Faculty of Fine Arts invites applications
for one Extended Term Appointment (ETA) position in Elementary Visual Arts Education starting
August 1, 2019.

Position Description
ETA members are intended to respond to specific full-time teaching and service needs of a
continuing nature that do not require a probationary or tenured appointment. Teaching and service
are mandatory responsibilities.

We are seeking applicants who have a strong commitment to and extensive experience of
elementary visual art education in public school settings and preservice teacher education. The
successful candidate will teach elementary internship related courses and other related core BFA
Specialization courses

Applicants must possess a Master’s degree (e.g. MA, MEd, MAT) in Art Education; a valid
teaching license or certification; at least five years of successful elementary visual art teaching;
significant university teaching experience in elementary visual art education and student teaching
supervision. Evidence of publication and presentations on the topic of elementary visual art
practices and preservice teacher education is a valuable asset. Although classes are taught in
English and internships will take place in English school boards, knowledge of French and the
Quebec educational context would be considered assets.
