Emily Carr University of Art + Design invites applications for a full‐time tenure‐track Assistant or Associate
Professor position in Critical + Cultural Studies within the Faculty of Culture + Community. Situated on unceded,
traditional and ancestral xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwxw˙7mesh ┌xwumixw (Squamish), and səl ̱ ilwโ ̓ətaʔɬ
(Tsleil‐Waututh) territories in Vancouver, Canada.

We are actively seeking a socially engaged, intellectually honest, and interdisciplinary inclined scholar and
educator to join our strong and dynamic team of historians, theorists, writers, and curators.


The successful candidate will:
 teach and mentor students across multiple year levels at the undergraduate and graduate level.
 supervise undergraduate and graduate student projects and theses.
 contribute to curriculum development and planning.
 participate in portfolio reviews and critiques.
 maintain an active research and scholarship profile.
 provide service to the faculty and university‐wide governance system, also by being an active and engaged
member of the university community.


The ideal candidate will have:
 a PhD in a relevant area of specialization;
 a minimum of two years of related post‐secondary teaching experience;
 an evidenced commitment to teaching excellence and innovation;
 proven experience or demonstrable promise in curriculum development;
 an exemplary academic practice, as demonstrated through a strong or promising research agenda and
publication record or trajectory;
 experience or interest in proactively advancing decolonization, equity, and sustainability in curriculum,
teaching, and scholarship.
