NSCAD University invites applications for a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Transaltantic Black Diasporic Art and Community
Engagement.

Tier 1 chair-holders are outstanding researchers acknowledged by their peers as world
leaders in their fields. In addition to the Canada Research Chair strengthening the core
programming of NSCAD, this CRC appointee will also contribute to developing productive
ethical, meaningful dialogue with local, national, and international communities and will
contribute to NSCAD’s commitment to outreach and community engagement based on
local treaty principles of respect, reciprocity and responsibility.


Qualifications:
The successful candidate will:
• Be a world-class researcher in the field
• Have an active, original, innovative program of high quality, internationally
recognized research and a vision for its future directions
• Have research that is responsive to and respectful of the needs of communities and
students
• Contribute positively to the respectful and inclusive culture at NSCAD University
• Demonstrate excellence in teaching and graduate supervision
• Have earned a PhD in a relevant discipline
