    The Associate Chair, Contemporary Drawing & Painting, provides support in the planning, coordination and successful management of the largest program in the Faculty of Art. Assisting with scheduling, course outline reviews, revision and refinement of course offerings, this individual also provides important leadership for student success. Reporting jointly to the Dean of Faculty and Ada Slaight Chair of Contemporary Practices in Drawing & Painting, the Associate Chair works closely with Associate Deans and other Chairs to support specific outreach projects as determined in consultation with the Ada Slaight Advisory Committee.

    QUALIFICATIONS:



     A terminal degree in the relevant discipline; practice-based PhD and/or MFA in studio art of equivalent considered
    an asset
     A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience with an excellent record of professional activity in one of the
    arts disciplines, as well as an affinity for cross-disciplinary dialogue and collaboration
     Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational abilities
     Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and proven ability to work effectively and
    collegially with a diverse population
     Familiarity with and respect for the diverse range of current issues in contemporary art and post-secondary
    education
     Familiarity with the labor/management agreements, such as OCAD Uís current Memorandum of Agreement
    (MOA) is considered an asset
     Understanding of OCAD U Academic Plan and other Strategic Plans
     Experience proactively advancing decolonization, diversity and equity in curriculum, teaching, scholarship, and
    creative/professional activities
     Demonstrated understanding of the ways in which equity, Indigenous knowledge, and sustainability are
    fundamental to the quality of student experience, to innovative scholarship, and to art production
     Demonstrated academic leadership, collegiality, conflict resolution skills, sensitivity to the needs to students and
    the ability to take initiative
